Withy King supports Bike Oxford

Withy King has become the latest sponsor of the inaugural Bike Oxford event. We join Oxford Brookes University, Oxford City Council and others in supporting Bike Oxford which will see hundreds of cyclists embarking on clearly marked rides of 20, 50 and 80 miles through Oxfordshire’s most picturesque countryside.

In addition, a team of around 20 cyclists from Withy King will be taking part in this major cycling event which starts and finishes at Oxford University Rugby Club on Iffley Road on 7 September.

Chris Kane, Partner and our Head of the Charities’ Committee, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Bike Oxford and entering a team. As part of our Summer of Sport, which has included the Three Peaks Challenge, various half-marathons and Bike Bath, we have been pushing our physical fitness to the extreme to support our nominated charities.”

Our three chosen charities for the year are Headway Oxfordshire, Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Bath’s Forever Friends Appeal. The proceeds from Bike Oxford and other Summer of Sport activities will be divided between them.

Bike Oxford has received universal support from the local community as well as David Cameron, Prime Minister and MP for Witney, who commented: “I am delighted to support the Bike Oxford event on 7 September. It is a brilliant boost for cycling and will bring together local people, local businesses and local food and drink producers which can only be a good thing! The enthusiasm of Bike Oxford is infectious and I would encourage everyone who can to take part and lend their wholehearted support to this event.”
