Victory as RWK Goodman gets Bristol Forklifts sale over the finish line

Press release

A vintage F1 champion and his business partner have sold their Bristol-based company to a key supplier with support from the Corporate team at UK Top 100 law firm RWK Goodman.

Serial entrepreneur Julian Bronson, who has won the Historic Grand Prix of Monaco four times, and fellow owner Ian Mounce, have sold Bristol Forklifts Ltd, the business they founded together in 2002, to Red Diamond Distribution Limited for an undisclosed sum.

RWK Goodman acted for the sellers, whose company based in Patchway, Bristol, is the South West’s leading independent provider of materials handling equipment and service, and an authorised dealer of Mitsubishi forklift trucks. The buyer, Red Diamond Distribution, is the UK’s sole importer of Mitsubishi forklift trucks and is seen as a natural fit for the business.

James Worrall and Edward Chapman, from the Corporate team at RWK Goodman advised the sellers and helped negotiate the terms of the sale. James commented: “Bristol Forklifts and Red Diamond have worked together closely over the years and have a good relationship. Red Diamond is a natural fit for the business and this deal will enhance and strengthen the current customer offering.

“The mergers and acquisitions market is buoyant and there continues to be steady demand for quality businesses, with other members of the supply chain often among the front runners looking for new opportunities to expand.

“Ian Mounce will continue to be involved in the business, providing continuity for customers while Julian Bronson will exit and take this opportunity to focus on other ventures including of course motor racing, a big part of Julian’s life. It’s been a pleasure working with Ian and Julian and we are delighted to have secured the outcome they were looking for.”

Fuller & Roper provided accountancy and tax support to Bronson and Mounce while Higgs and Sons provided legal advice to Red Diamond Distribution.
