Tribunal Fees 2013

From Summer 2013, employees will have to pay to bring a claim in the Employment Tribunal. A claimant will now be required to pay a fee at the issue of their claim and a subsequent fee where the case proceeds to a full hearing. The claims will be split into two categories – Level 1 and Level 2 claims. Level 1 claims comprises more straightforward and lower value claims, generally for sums due on termination of employment (such as unpaid wages, redundancy payments and payments in lieu of notice). Level 2 claims comprise all other claims, including unfair dismissal, discrimination, equal pay and whistle blowing claims.

Fee type Level 1 claims Level 2 claims
Issue fee £160 £250
Hearing fee £230 £950
