Additional figures also revealed that London’s technology and digital sector is mushrooming, with the sector accounting for almost a third of the employment growth experienced within London.

Now on the back of these two reports, a survey, of the Top 100 start-ups within the UK, has revealed that technology businesses are dominating that start-up market.

According to the annual survey, which has been running since 2008, the top start-up in the UK is an advertising technology company which managed to double its seven-figure turnover between 2012 and last year.

Three of the other businesses in the top 5 are also technology based businesses; including second place, which went to an app which already operates in New York and Los Angeles, and raised almost $14 million in venture capital.
