Suspicions regarding a handwritten Will

Author headshot image Posted by , Partner

Andrew* and Brian contacted us after their late brother died leaving only a handwritten Will. Both brothers were concerned that the Will had not been made in the presence of two witnesses and so was not valid. They also wanted our advice on whether the Will was forged.

As part of our investigation, we used expert handwriting evidence which showed that Andrew and Brian’s late brother had written some, but not all, parts of his Will.

Using this information, we successfully reached a settlement with the beneficiaries named in this Will. The result was that the majority of the estate went to Andrew and Brian.
