A ‘super’ Christmas campaign – how one charity is raising money for disabled children over the festive period

Kerstin Scheel from our Medical Negligence team looks at how Brainwave is helping to raise money for disabled children over the Christmas period.

We support a wide range of charities who help those living with a disability, and know of many more who deliver much-needed assistance to individuals and families all year round.

However, this year, one charity fundraising initiative has stood out to us. That initiative being Brainwave’s Superhero Christmas Appeal.

This fantastic campaign is asking people to ‘be a superhero’ and donate to Brainwave this Christmas, to help support children and families who are living with disability every day. The money will go to fund their specialist paediatric therapists, who spend full days with children (and their families) to create Therapy Programmes to improve mobility, communication skills and learning potential.

Activity is vital for children with a disability, as we covered for World Cerebral Palsy Day with Katrina Hart, a former Paralympian and Commonwealth Gold Medallist:

The ‘be a superhero’ campaign follows their innovative ‘Message in a Bauble’ campaign which has been hugely popular.

About Brainwave

The money that is raised by these festive campaigns will go to support the many children who Brainwave help every year. Their aim is to help children who are living with a disability achieve greater independence, and ensure that these children have the opportunity to reach their potential.

Brainwave helps children with a wide range of disabilities, including those with cerebral palsy and genetic disorders. As part of a team that works with disabled children, and aims to compensate them following an injury which has led to their disability, I know we all understand the great efforts that go into helping them in this way. It is fantastic to see a charity dedicated to this cause.

We hope that all of Brainwave’s campaigns are a real success and generate the funds they need to continue their important work with disabled children and their families.
