Up-to-date pensions advice to keep you ahead of the curve

Twenty years ago most of the pensions legislation would fit into a lever-arch file.  Nowadays the legislation would reach from the floor to the ceiling – and this despite the so-called “simplification” in 2006.

Pensions is not a field for non-specialists.  The law changes constantly, and the numerous court cases on pensions also have to be taken into account.  Royds Withy King subscribes to the “Perspective” online pensions database, which means the firm can advise on pensions matters knowing that we are using the most up-to-date information.

Royds Withy King’s pensions specialist, Roger May, has 20 years’ experience of pensions law, and his experience ranges from large defined-benefit schemes to small self-administered schemes for company directors.  He is a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers.

Roger is never afraid to put his head above the parapet, and has assisted his trustee clients to lobby Parliament to change the law and bring an estimated 20,000 pensioners within the Government’s Financial Assistance Scheme, although the existing law disqualified them.  He has also published a paper for Royds Withy King arguing that pensions equalisation between men and women has been wrongly implemented and breaches the European equality laws – a copy of the paper can be downloaded by clicking here.
