You’ve heard of ozone; you’ll know all about laundry. But did you know that the two are being combined by an innovative Oxford-based company that is revolutionising how we do our laundry?
Royds Withy King client Oxwash, started in 2017 by ex-NASA scientist Dr Kyle Grant and Oxford engineer Tom De Wilton, takes customers’ laundry by electric bike to one of its ‘lagoons’ (as its washing centres are known) in Oxford, Cambridge and London and uses custom technology to clean them.
The result is drastically reduced impact in terms of the environment, carbon emissions and reduced amounts of clothing going to landfill, putting sustainability at the very heart of their business.
The company’s success has attracted investment from venture capital with £1.75 million of recent seed funding, from investors with blue chip experience and contacts, in order to help the business realise its ambitious plans.
In our podcast, David Lane, Senior Associate in our Real Estate team, caught up with Tom de Wilton, COO of OxWash, to talk about the next steps in the company’s journey to revolutionise the laundry industry.
