By law, you need to take independent legal advice before signing the Settlement Agreement.

Your employer will normally contribute towards the cost of the advice and in most cases you will pay nothing for the initial appointment. We will invoice your employer directly.

Wherever possible we will try and book you an appointment within 24 hours of your enquiry. If, after the appointment, no further work is needed, we can send the signed Settlement Agreement to the company after the appointment.

Each Settlement Agreement is different but the level of compensation is often dependent on your length of service, your contractual benefits and the value and merits of any claims you are giving up.

It is crucial that you discuss this fully with your solicitor. At Withy King we regularly negotiate better terms and increased compensation for our clients.

Generally compensation of £30,000 can be paid tax free. We will review your agreement to ensure your compensation is tax efficient.
