Experienced in international legal work
The firm has, in particular, built up dedicated teams working on the Nordic, Middle East and Indian markets and is a member of the leading international lawyer network Interleges. The firm’s international work covers:
- Inward investment into the UK: M&As, setting up a subsidiary or branch, or by appointing an agent or distributor
- Dispute resolution and arbitration
- Offshore and personal tax-planning for ex-pats and non-UK nationals.
Whilst we act for companies, Government organisations and charitable trusts in all areas of commerce and industry, Royds Withy King has particular expertise and experience in the following international market sectors:
- Airlines and transport
- Jewellery and luxury goods
- Media and publishing
- and more.
The firm has a large Scandinavian practice, led by Claus Andersen, who is Danish and English qualified. Claus leads on Scandinavian inward investment into the UK and UK outbound deals in Scandinavia, and maintains close links with the Danish and Swedish Chambers of Commerce. Clients of the team include Danske Bank and leading media company North Media A/S.
Royds Withy King acts for a number of public and private sector businesses in India including the State Bank of India and the Bank of India. Please see our banking sector information.
Royds Withy King has forged varied and unique relationships with major players in the United Arab Emirates and has been involved in a number of initiatives in conjunction with Trench and Associates, the Interleges member firm in Dubai.
The demand for expert corporate and property advice to UAE companies with international interests and private client services to UAE resident expats is huge. Provision of such advice through the axis of a City of London firm and UAE based lawyers is proving a more attractive option to many UAE clients than looking to the satellite offices of UK law firms.
Royds has close links with the offshore banking industry and has provided speakers at a number of financial/taxation seminars in Dubai and Abu Dhabi at the invitation of the offshore arm of HSBC.
Royds Withy King has worked closely with EBSM the Interleges member in Lebanon and Qatar and has specific expertise in working for clients with investments in London requiring assistance on joint venture property developments and the associated corporate and personal tax implications.
