Press Release: Scandinavian corporate and commercial partner Claus Andersen adds to Royds’ international business capabilities

Claus Andersen jpg imageClaus Andersen, a Danish corporate and commercial partner, this week joins City firm Royds. There are now three partners in the team. His focus will be on helping Scandinavian firms enter and operate within the UK market – whether this is through acquisition, joint ventures, restructuring share capital or other routes.

Claus is a specialist in corporate and commercial matters, particularly share agreements and joint ventures. As well as corporate transactions supporting Scandinavian companies operating in the UK market, he also has experience in financial services - Euro loan transactions, bond instruments, investment agreements, secured convertible loans, loan agreements and exemptions. He is currently presenting seminars on governance and the Bribery Act to international retailers and banks.

Claus is fluent in English and Danish and has knowledge of all Scandinavian languages.

John North, head of the corporate and commercial department and a member of the firm’s Management Board commented “Our pivotal role within Interleges, the international network, has always meant that Royds has had a far wider reach globally than most firms of a comparable size. This is evident from the multinational organisations in our client list. Claus is therefore a valuable addition for us – and for our Scandinavian clients. The sectors in which he has experience - property, technology and telecommunications, sports and leisure, advertising and marketing, insurance and pensions and private equity – map almost perfectly onto ours”.

Claus said “Royds is of a size that is not institutionalised, so partners have the freedom to serve their clients in the most appropriate manner. Yet Royds also has enough lawyers – over 40 – to be able to provide the full range of commercial support whether this is in employment, property, dispute resolution or intellectual property”.

Claus qualified as a Danish Advokat in 2001 and was admitted to the High Courts of Denmark and the Copenhagen Maritime and Commercial Court in 2003. He was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2008. He joins Royds from Anglo-Danish firm Miller Rosenfalck. His first degree was from Aarhus in Denmark but his masters degree is from King’s College London.

Claus’s personal interests include football (an Arsenal supporter), ice hockey, theatre, history, astronomy and archaeology.
