Partner promotions in 2017
In 2017, we announced four partner promotions in our Private Client, Family and Employment teams: Kate Benefer, Edward Vidnes, Lauren Harkin and Rebecca Stevens.
Employment solicitor Kate Benefer, worked for a number of leading regional law firms before joining Royds Withy King in 2016 where she heads up the local employment team and advises on all aspects of employment law including disciplinary issues, grievances and sickness management, redundancy and restructures, discrimination and Tribunal claims.
Simon Bassett, lead partner in the Oxford office of Royds Withy King, said: “We are delighted to announce Kate’s promotion. Since joining us just over a year ago she has become an integral part of our commercial team, putting a huge amount of time and effort into her work and going over and above to deliver a consistently high level of service to her clients.”
Specialist elderly client and incapacity lawyer Edward Vidnes has been made a partner in the Bath office. Ed is part of the firm’s 30-strong Bath Private Client team and specialises in later life issues, working closely with individuals and their families on a wide variety of issues covering Wills, Powers of Attorney and Deputyships, Personal Injury Trusts and Estate Administrations.

The Family team in our Swindon office is led by partner Rebecca Stevens, who trained and qualified with the firm. Rebecca is renowned for her expertise in children law specialising in child protection issues and complex cases including non-accidental injury, human rights and jurisdictional issues.
Rebecca has established herself as a committed family solicitor and has been nominated for several awards, including Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year and Law Society Personality of the Year at the Law Society Excellence Awards in 2015. Rebecca also won Pro-Bono Lawyer of the year at the Bristol Law Society awards. In 2016, she was also shortlisted for the Law Society Excellence Awards by their independent judges for Solicitor of the Year – Private Practice award.
The Employment team in Swindon also welcomed the promotion of new partner Lauren Harkin. Lauren has extensive experience across a wide range of employment law matters and advises both local and national businesses as well as individual employees and senior level directors. She regularly writes for the local business press and delivers training courses and seminars on all aspects of employment law.
Lauren has been listed as an ‘Associate to watch’ in Chambers & Partners for being known by clients for her “excellent understanding of employment law.”
