Tony is a partner in our Corporate team. He has wide experience in advising clients ranging from entrepreneurs to listed companies and has developed expertise across a range of sectors, including retail, food and beverages, transport and industrial.



About Tony

Tony qualified at Herbert Smith Freehills LLP in London and practised there for 13 years. He undertook secondments to the Moscow office and the in-house legal team of a major international company.

Tony became a partner with Royds in June 2015, following a period as Head of Corporate of a leading regional firm.

Tony acts for domestic and international clients on a variety of corporate and commercial matters, including:

  • mergers and acquisitions
  • joint ventures
  • shareholder disputes
  • corporate governance
  • commercial contracts
  • reorganisations

Tony is advising on major confidential transactions which are currently ongoing and has acted for major UK and international companies on projects in Russia, India and Africa.

His approach is always pragmatic and his key focus is to apply the law in a way which best responds to the commercial drivers of the deal.

Work highlights

  • Acted for Tata Motors on its acquisition of JaguarLandRover from Ford
  • Acted for London & Continental Railways on the Eurostar joint venture agreements
  • Tony has contributed to Tolley’s Company Law and has been interviewed on topical legal issues by the BBC.

Tony enjoys travelling and hiking in regions of great natural beauty, especially along the coast. His other interests include films, theatre and fighting a losing battle to keep the garden in good shape.
