Rachel is an Associate within our Personal Injury team in the Oxford office, specialising in Asbestos related disease claims.

About Rachel

Rachel joined the Personal Injury team in January 2017, and has since been recognised as a “thorough and knowledgeable” associate by The Legal 500 UK. After qualifying in 2005, Rachel specialised in catastrophic brain injury cases before specialising in asbestos linked diseases such as mesothelioma, asbestosis, lung cancer and pleural thickening claims in recent years.

Work highlights

Examples of awards Rachel has recovered for her clients are:

  • £280K for the widow of a Ford Motor plant worker who did not know where her husband was exposed. Rachel was able to find evidence to show how he was exposed by tracing witnesses who worked alongside him at the plant
  • £170k for a former merchant naval seaman who had subsequently emigrated to Australia, concluding his case within 3 months
  • damages for the family of a lady who was exposed to asbestos when assisting a relative, whose husband worked in an asbestos factory, with her laundry. Rachel accepted instructions on this case after it was investigated and turned down by a national law firm, securing Judgement for her client in the High Court.
  • £120k for the widow of an asbestos factory worker who passed away from asbestosis after his case had been turned away by a national law firm. Rachel was able to obtain witness evidence to settle her case, where another law firm had failed
  •  damages for a lady who was exposed to asbestos while working as a medical secretary at hospital in a ward made from corrugated asbestos cement.

The Legal 500 - The Clients Guide to Law Firms

Since suffering a serious injury in an accident, I have always wanted to work in Personal Injury law. Having experienced first hand, the difference that a dedicated and caring lawyer can make to a client, my motivation is providing my clients the care and support they need at the most difficult time of their lives. Since moving into asbestos claims, I cannot imagine doing anything else. My clients are always lovely people who have been dealt a devastating and often very sudden blow. While no amount of compensation can replace a love one or change a devastating diagnosis, it is hugely rewarding to know that I can assist in providing some level of financial security and peace of mind to victims and families who find themselves in such a dreadful situation.
