About Joanne
Jo is a dual qualified solicitor with over 12 years’ experience, having originally trained in South Africa following the award of an LLB (Hons) degree in 2005. Following the completion of her training contract and admission to the Bar in South Africa, she worked at two well-known firms and was involved in a varied caseload, including property disputes and acquisitions, trusts, breach of contract claims and financial disputes.
Jo moved to the United Kingdom in 2008 and qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2011. She originally focused her attention on the Asset Based Lending industry representing clients such as Bibby, Close, Aldermore and Metro Bank, but has within the last five years worked exclusively within the insolvency sector representing a multitude of clients on a number of significant cases, including the recent and well publicised Court of Appeal case of Global Corporate Ltd v Hale 2018 [2018] EWCA Civ 2618.
Jo acts for and advises insolvency practitioners, financiers, creditors, directors (facing disqualification proceedings or claims brought by insolvency practitioners), bankrupts and shareholders, often with a multi-jurisdictional element. She is well known within the insolvency sector with strong client and chambers relationships which ensures that her clients benefit from the best possible service.

Memberships
Jo was admitted to the Bar in South Africa in 2007 and as a solicitor to the Law Society in 2011.

Outside of work, Jo enjoys cycling, swimming, competing in triathlons, travelling and spending time with family and friends.
