About Jennifer

Jennifer is a Partner in our Personal Injury team and Head of the Bath and Swindon Industrial Diseases Teams. She exclusively represents sufferers of asbestos-related diseases, including mesothelioma, lung cancer, asbestosis and diffuse pleural thickening, and their families.

Jennifer qualified in 2008 and has specialised in acting for sufferers of asbestos-related diseases ever since. She is an Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) Senior Litigator and accredited occupational and asbestos disease specialist.  Jennifer has recovered millions of pounds in compensation for her clients over the years. She has successfully concluded cases that other firms have dropped, recovered immunotherapy funding, dealt with claims for expats and former armed forces personnel and secured provisional and periodic payment orders for her clients. She regularly receives lovely testimonials from her clients on Trustpilot. Jennifer is recommended by The Legal 500 UK for “asbestos-related claims” and was ranked as a ‘Rising Star’ in 2019.

Jennifer lives in Swindon and regularly acts for those who have developed asbestos related diseases as a result of exposure whilst working at the Railways and other large companies in the town. Jennifer volunteers as a Trustee on the Board for local charity Prospect Hospice.

However, Jennifer has clients nationally and internationally. Examples of awards she has reclaimed for her clients are:

£285k for secondary exposure resulting in mesothelioma

£285k for a 63 year old woman who developed mesothelioma after exposure to asbestos on a secondary basis during her first marriage, from her husband’s work clothes. Jennifer was able to secure funding for her client to have immunotherapy treatment privately which helped to prolong her life expectancy.

Settlement equivalent to £650k for loss of a partner to mesothelioma

A settlement equivalent to £650k for a woman whose long term partner tragically died from mesothelioma at the age of 58 following exposure to asbestos whilst working for the BBC as an engineer. Another specialist firm were originally instructed and after investigating advised the case should be closed. Jennifer took over conduct and pursued the case to a successful conclusion. The settlement included a periodic payments order (PPO) for the woman’s future care and replacement services – a novel approach in a mesothelioma claim.

£250k for mesothelioma where claimant was unsure of asbestos source

£250k for a 62 year old man with mesothelioma who initially was unable to say where and how he was exposed to asbestos. Jennifer was able to find evidence to prove that he had been exposed to asbestos while working in a warehouse as a teenager. The steel beams in the warehouse had been sprayed with asbestos for fireproofing and the asbestos was gradually damaged due to the activities being undertaken in the premises.

£150k for family of man who was exposed when working at father's company

£150k for the family of a man with mesothelioma, exposed to asbestos while working at his father’s boat building company, part of the time as a director. The man had instructed a solicitor during his lifetime but they were unable to secure compensation for him. His family instructed Jennifer following his death and she settled the claim within 15 months.

£185k for the widow of an electrician exposed to asbestos

£185k for the widow of an electrician who developed lung cancer after being exposed to asbestos while repairing and replacing storage heaters in domestic properties.

£90k for son of a man with asbestosis diagnosed post-mortem

£90k for the son of a man who had developed asbestosis but which was not discovered until post mortem. The deceased had pursued a claim for pleural plaques in the 1980s but all records had been destroyed. Jennifer uncovered evidence regarding the terms of settlement in the original claim but this created further complexities due to a long stop provision in the original terms. Jennifer was able to overcome the issues and settle the claim successfully.

£35k for expat living in Chile who developed asbestosis

£35k for an expat living in Chile who developed asbestosis after working for the Central Electricity Generating Board and Babcock and Wilcox in the 1960s.

Jennifer has advised and assisted sufferers at a number of regional asbestos support groups over the years and has set up and runs the Swindon and Wiltshire Asbestos Support Group.
