James joined our Employment team from Fieldfisher. Before qualifying as a solicitor in 2014, James had a career in television production.
- litigated two of the most high profile cases regarding employment status, reviewing documents for disclosure, drafting the witness statements and attending the hearing with Counsel
- advised several companies in the technology and health sectors regarding forthcoming changes to the IR35 tax rules for consultants, updating their contractual documentation
- advocated before the Employment Tribunal in defence of a company accused of harassment, including allegations of race discrimination arising from the Brexit referendum
- advocated before the Employment Appeal Tribunal in Tapere v South London and Maudsley NHS  IRLR 972, now the leading case about Regulation 4(9) of TUPE.
