Ivelina joined the Employment team at Royds, now Royds Withy King, as a paralegal in May 2013 following a change in career. She successfully completed a law degree (LLB) at the University of London and went on to gain a Distinction in her Legal Practice Course (LPC) at BPP Law School. She is registered for pro bono employment law work at the Free Representation Unit (FRU) and also holds a postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies.
Prior to her legal career, Ivelina acted as a Commercial Manager within a within a global Fortune 500 company covering Europe, Middle East and India group operations. In her role, she worked directly for the Group Managing Director and Managing Counsel in commercial and legal negotiations, risk analysis, anti-bribery and corruption compliance. She had been instrumental in the negotiations of a number of complex projects for public and private sector clients across various international jurisdictions, such as the Tube Lines PPP Contract Re-stated Terms in the UK, Windsor-Essex Parkway project in Canada and the A-Roads projects in Germany.
In 2015, Ivelina began her training contract with the firm and qualified as a solicitor in the Corporate and Commercial team in March 2017. Before qualifying as a solicitor, Ivelina gained experience in employment law, commercial property law and corporate and commercial law before qualifying as a corporate solicitor with Royds Withy King.
Ivelina’s mother tongue is Bulgarian and she understands other Slavonic languages such as Russian, Macedonian and Serbo-Croatian.
Outside of work, Ivelina enjoys watching historical drama, going to the theatre and travelling. Her other interests include tennis, science fiction, psychology and literature.
