Oil and Mineral Mining in Greenland

Greenland’s government have recently published new proposals relating to its revised oil and mineral strategy, which runs from this year until 2018, which is set to have a significant impact on the direction Greenland will take over the next five years.

Within the latest strategy, the government in Greenland have outlined suggested focus areas for supporting the development of mining and oil industries within the country; focusing on five specific areas, including:

•Oil and Gas
•Foundation of GeoSurvey Greenland
•Sustainable development and Infrastructure Conditions

It is believed that the strategy will have an impact on how attractive the mining sector within Greenland will be over the coming years for both existing and potential investors.
