Dispute resolution press release

Royds Withy King has partnered with market leader QLP to offer commercial clients a facility to financially strengthen their claims and manage the cost of litigation.

The facility applies to business owners and managers, particularly in the shipping and aviation industries, who have worthy commercial claims and who are concerned about funding litigation in the short and long term.

With increasing costs involved in court proceedings, the facility covers own side disbursements, court and arbitration fees, as well as opponents’ legal costs should the claim be lost. It provides an insurance policy underwritten by AmTrust Europe Limited, part of the ‘A’ rated AmTrust Group, and should the policy not be accepted as security, a Deed of Indemnity may be available. This means that clients do not need to use their own funds and assets in financing a claim. Royds Withy King is also able to arrange third party funding in relation to expert reports, counsel’s fees and Court of Arbitration costs.

Stewart Wilkinson, dispute resolution partner said: “We often hear from our clients that the affordability of arbitration or High Court proceedings can be a major worry. We are delighted to partner with QLP, a leading provider of after the event (ATE) insurance, to ease our clients’ concerns and help them to financially bolster their claims.”

Royds Withy King’s Dispute Resolution team offers a full range of legal services to the maritime and aviation sectors. The firm’s expertise includes contractual disputes, regulatory and insurance matters, passenger and cargo claims, domestic and international arbitration and all forms of ADR, including mediation.
