Leading Drug Company Faces Bribery Allegations

According to the reports, which follow a BBC investigation, the drug company had paid the doctors in return promoting the drug, which led to prescriptions; and it has been revealed that eleven doctors and a regional manager for the drug company are facing charges relating to alleged bribery over a two year period.

If the allegations are proved to be correct, the drug company are likely to have broken both the UK Bribery Act and the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act; whilst the doctors and regional manager involved could face prison sentences ranging from six months to eight years.

This is not the first time that the company have faced such allegations, having been under a similar investigation in China last year; whilst earlier this month, the drug company confirmed that it was investigating allegations of similar behaviour in Iraq.

Whilst the drug company have confirmed that they are cooperating with Poland’s Central Anti-Corruption Office; for those businesses who face allegations relating to bribery offences, our corporate and commercial solicitors in London may be able to assist.
