Megan’s story

Megan was a child when she suffered a brain injury due to negligence as a result of a missed diagnoses of a tumour and RWK Goodman’s clinical negligence team represented her in bringing a compensation claim. As a part of the litigation process it was identified that Megan would need support in managing the resulting compensation award.

The compensation protection team has acted for Megan for a number of years supporting her in managing her finances and working closely with Megan, her family and other professionals including her case manager and support workers.

One of the priorities for Megan was a suitable living space to facilitate her transition into adulthood and to provide suitable space for her to grow in confidence in an independent living situation, whilst still having support nearby if needed. To achieve this we worked with specialist architects and construction experts and with significant input from Megan and her family, we were able to create the space in a way that provides Megan with the independence she needs now and the ability to adapt this in future, as she reaches the different stages of her life.

Megan has a great eye for design and the home she has created has a stylish yet welcoming feel. The importance of working collaboratively was evident in the finished product which is both practical, meeting Megan’s needs but also creating a home with her imprint.

We have had the privilege of witnessing Megan grow into a wonderful young woman and were proud to see her have the confidence to model in our Fashion Show in aid of the Silverlining Charity.
