How we helped a client set up a charity

Our client was the founder of a small voluntary organisation which they had set up to assist young parents who were struggling to cope with day-to-day life. The organisation quickly had a strong impact on the local community, earning the recognition of the local council and other interested parties who were keen to work closely with them and provide much needed funding.

Our client came to us at this time when they also had a number of significant pledges lined up.

We advised that an incorporated charity would provide the best structure for them going forward. This would enable the charity to take on employees, enter into contracts when necessary and for the founder to be able to take on a day-to-day management role as opposed to remaining as Trustee.

The charity is now nearing the end of its first year as a fully registered charitable company limited by guarantee and continues to go from strength to strength.
