Our property team complete the house buying process in half the time
Our Residential property, farms and estates solicitors are bucking the trend and helping buyers to move into their new homes almost twice as fast as the national average.
On average, our clients are seeing straightforward property transactions completed within eight to nine weeks, almost half the average length of completion times seen by many estate agents who have blamed mortgage lenders, surveyors and solicitors for the delays.
According to Townends estate agency, the average, straightforward property purchase is taking 13 to 15 weeks to complete although they say sales lasting six months are not uncommon. Another firm, Douglas & Gordon blames the property industry for not being adequately prepared for the upturn in the housing market.
“We predicted that the market would pick up significantly in Spring 2013 and took the bold step of actively recruiting the best people to ensure we are in a strong position to respond to the increasing demand for fast and efficient property services,” commented Angus Williams, residential property partner at Withy King. “Despite these moves, we are busy and have experienced a 25 per cent rise in the number of property transactions in the last few months. We have also seen an encouraging amount of work coming through from our developer clients who are starting to build up and bring new properties to the market.
“We have made a number of key hires in recent months in response to market conditions, including the appointment of property partner Fiona McNulty and solicitor Beth Heley who will support our dedicated new build and plot sales team. Longer-term, no-one really knows what the property market has in store, but in the short to medium-term, we are well resourced and in a stronger position than many.”
