Press statement: Christine Reaney v University Hospital of North Staffordshire NHS Trust & Mid Staffordshire Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust

Yolande Wase, Associate in our Medical Negligence team acted for Mrs Christine Reaney, who sustained grade four pressure sores and additional injuries arising therefrom while in the care of hospitals under Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust and University Hospital of North Staffordshire Foundation Trust.

Further to the handing down of judgment in the matter of Christine Reaney v University Hospital of North Staffordshire NHS Trust & Mid Staffordshire Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust on Friday 19 September 2014, Mrs Reaney has requested that her legal team issue the following statement on her behalf:

“I am thankful that this matter has been resolved in my favour and that legal proceedings are now drawing to a close.  The conclusion of this case will draw a line under a distressing period in my life and I look forward to trying to get back to normality as far as my condition will allow.  I request that the press please now respect my privacy and that any further queries are directed to my lawyers, Caroline Hallissey at Serjeants Inn or Yolande Wase at Withy King.”

Mrs Reaney’s legal team should like to add that all compensation received will be kept in a Trust fund from where it will be applied directly to meet her future needs arising from her disabilities. The amount of compensation obtained will not be disclosed.
