Paralympic athlete sponsored by Withy King in training for European Championships
A neuromuscular condition affecting movement, posture and coordination, Katrina’s cerebral palsy manifests itself in the left side of her body, affecting her arm and leg.
Withy King is sponsoring Katrina, who won the bronze medal in the 4 x 100m relay in the 2012 Paralympic Games in London. The firm’s sponsorship is used to cover training and travel costs in the run up the next Games in Rio de Janeiro, for which Katrina is currently training.
So what’s she up to now? Katrina says:
"With the outdoor season well under way and the sun shining, the European Championships in Swansea are just around the corner.
Training is hard but going well with many changes being made this year both on and off the track, including doing some sessions with my new training partner: my parents' dog, Pebbles! Morale is high among my training group as we look forward to the rest of the season.
In March I headed out to Dubai to compete in the IPC Grand Prix and performed well so early in the season. Since then I have put in some solid performances in the lead up to the selection meeting for the European Championships, which are to be held at the end of July.
Off the track, I have become an ambassador for the Midlands Air Ambulance and have continued to give motivational talks at local schools and businesses. After coming back from the World Championships in Lyon I decided to start a part-time job which has given me a better balance between my life and sporting commitments.
