So when there is a chance to support someone who has the potential to go on to redefine how people think about Cerebral Palsy, we want to make sure we do everything in our power to help spread this positive message.

People, like Paralympic medallist Katrina Hart, who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at the age of three months and is a highly capable and accomplished athlete.

We’ve sponsored Katrina since 2011 and during this time she has gone on to win many medals at an elite level including a bronze for the women’s 4x100 relay at London 2012.

In a recent interview we spoke to Katrina about some of the ways that her sponsorship with RWK Goodman helps her in her training. This has included the purchase of a Compex Machine, which uses electrical impulses to stimulate muscles;  “a couple of  years ago I purchased a Compex Machine which is used as a muscle stimulant. I use it on my left side as potentiation which basically tries to recruit the muscles that haven’t been used”. We also help to finance trips abroad; “with Cerebral Palsy it’s also important to get heat on the muscles, so a few times a year I go and train abroad, which helps the overall muscles”.

We are proud to help support people like Katrina and be a part of her wider team. For more information on conditions like cerebral palsy visit Birth Injury Information.
