RWK Goodman host international delegates

Around 50 junior lawyers and trainees from the UK and across the globe gathered at our office in central London recently as part of an International Weekend organised by the Junior Lawyers Division of the Law Society of England and Wales, the Young Barristers Committee of the Bar Council, the European Young Bar Association and the London Young Lawyers Group.

We hosted the second day’s packed programme of activities at our offices in Carter Lane. These included seminars by District Judge Keith Etherington, Dr Heather Anson and Peter Wright of DigitalLawUK, Alexandria Carr, Mayer Brown and Evanna Fruithof of the Bar Council EU Law Committee, followed by an international oratory competition. A black tie, gala dinner took place later that evening at the Radisson Blu Edwardian.

Jennifer Sampson, a solicitor in the corporate and commercial team at our Oxford office, who took part in the international weekend, said: “It was really interesting to find out about legal practices in other jurisdictions and above all, to make useful contacts for the future. In addition to the networking, it was a great chance to find out about our own legal industry.”

Fellow attendee, Nidal Mihramane, a trainee solicitor in our London office, added: “I think the event was a fantastic opportunity to meet other junior lawyers, all of whom were at similar stages in their legal careers. The seminars and networking sessions were informative and provided a chance to learn about our own and other delegates’ legal systems. The Gala dinner was also a lot of fun!”

The international weekend is aimed at international and UK-based lawyers. It features a mix of technical and skills-based seminars and provides an overview of the legal system in England and Wales as well as an introduction to the City of London.
