The talk was in aid of the Alliance Appeal of the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport to ensure that HMS Alliance (the last remaining A Class submarine and only British WW2 era full scale submarine open to the public in the world ) can be preserved as a permanent memorial to the 5,300 British submariners who have lost their lives in the service of their country.

The event raised over £2,000 for the museum. Commodore Chris Munns, Director of the Royal Navy Submarine Museum commented, “It was a very successful evening and the monies raised will help restore HMS Alliance and make the submarine even more accessible allowing her to continue to provide a fascinating insight into life on board a submarine”.

James McNeile, Head of Private Client at Withy King added, “We were delighted to be involved, with Charles Stanley, in supporting the Alliance Appeal and it was a fantastic opportunity to hear about the role of HMS Conqueror in the Falklands campaign. Sir Tim’s talk highlighted the extraordinary bravery of those involved in the submarine service”.
