Employment News Update – Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act 2013

BIS has issued a press release with commencement dates for some of the changes introduced by the Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act 2013. This has recently received Royal Assent. The following will come into force on the 25th June 2013 :-

  • Changes to whistle blowing laws, including a public interest element, removal of the requirement for a disclosure to be made in good faith, and vicarious liability on employers for detriments by employees and other workers.
  • Removal of the 2 year qualifying period for unfair dismissal where the main reason for the dismissal is the employee’s political opinions or affiliation.

Further commencement dates will be provided in a future edition of the Update when these are released.
