Our Bath office helps to colour the world orange

Partners and staff from our Bath offices put on their best orange outfits and took part in an orange-themed bake off and cake sale to show their support for a global awareness campaign organised locally by CRPS UK, the country’s first charity to raise awareness and provide support to people suffering from Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.

The office festivities took place to mark the fourth annual Colour the World Orange Day which also saw famous buildings, bridges and landmarks across the world illuminated in orange in support of CRPS.

CRPS UK is one of the causes which we are particularly close to, having helped the support group to become a registered charity as well as providing ongoing support to clients who have acquired the debilitating neurological condition which leaves them in constant and severe pain.

Louise Hart, partner in our Personal Injury team in Bath and one of very few lawyers to specialise in CRPS-related legal claims, said: “Colour the World Orange Day is a great initiative that raises awareness of this little-understood condition. I’m grateful to everyone who got involved to support this. The orange outfits were definitely a talking point and the cake sale, to raise funds for the charity, was very popular.”

CRPS UK co-founder and trustee Julie Weymouth, visited our offices in Bath to judge the firm’s bake off. The winner was Laura Jackson, chartered legal executive in the firm’s Personal Injury team, who baked a winning citrus drizzle cake..

Julie commented on the firm’s involvement: “Louise Hart and the team at RWK Goodman have supported CRPS UK for many years. We were delighted to see staff and partners from the firm entering into the spirit of the day and doing their bit for CRPS.”

CRPS is a severe and debilitating condition often affecting one limb.  The pain is intense and continuous and often the limb is swollen and suffers from colour and temperature changes compared with the unaffected limb.  The slightest touch, bump or change in environmental temperate can provoke intense pain. CRPS UK is a patient-led support group and registered charity. To find out more, visit crps-uk.org

Corporate Social Responsibility is one of our core values which the business is built on. Partners and staff throughout the firm are heavily involved in a wide range of charitable and community-led initiatives. The four main beneficiaries of the firm’s fund-raising for the next two years are Bath Mind, See Saw, Doing it for Dan and Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest, as voted for by staff.
