“Claus Andersen has appeared on Jyske Bank TV”

Claus Andersen was interviewed at the TV Station about the UK Bribery Act. The Act introduces four offences. These are:

1. bribing another person;
2. being bribed;
3. bribing a foreign public official; and
4. a corporate offence of failing to prevent bribery (“The Corporate Offence”).

The Act carries strict sanctions such as prison sentence up to 10 years and fines which can be unlimited. The Act applies to businesses which are incorporated in the UK and businesses incorporated overseas with activity on the English market.

One of the most controversial provisions in the Act is the Corporate Offence, ie. the offence of failing to prevent bribery The practical effect of this provision is that it obliges any business operating in the United Kingdom to review its policies and business procedures to ensure that it is not dragged into costly and potentially damaging bribery proceedings.
