Intrepid trio from RWK Goodman prepare for Mount Kilimanjaro climb in aid of Julian House

Jess Burston, Ali Cloak and Fran Tremeer – based at the firm’s Bath head office – are joining the challenge trek to scale Mount Kilimanjaro in February. Their target is to raise over £10,000 for the homeless charity based in the city. Julian House is the 2019-2021 charity partner for the Bath office of the law firm. This year, the organisation will provide life-changing support to over 1,000 vulnerable individuals, particularly in the areas of homelessness, domestic abuse and prison resettlement.
The team will trek across some of the most spectacular and varied landscapes in the world. Their mission will be to summit the iconic Uhuru Peak, which – at 5,896 metres high – is 4.4 times the height of Ben Nevis.
The nine-day adventure presents a physical and psychological challenge, with altitude sickness one of the biggest concerns. But it also promises to be a life-changing experience, with the opportunity to explore incredible and varied landscapes while raising funds to make a big difference to the lives of many.
Jess Burston, Director of Operations at RWK Goodman, said: “I am apprehensive about the physical challenge but excited for the adventure. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to make this more than a bucket list activity and directly contribute to the well-being of many vulnerable people this coming year.”
Ali Cloak, Senior Associate at RWK Goodman, said: “Julian House is a truly inspiring charity. I feel very proud to be fundraising for them, safe in the knowledge the money will be used to improve the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in the community. As well as securing much needed funds, I am also keen to raise awareness about the charity’s work and show how others can get involved if they want to help in some way.”
Fran Tremeer, Solicitor at RWK Goodman, said: “While I haven’t encountered a physical challenge quite like this before, I am extremely motivated by Julian House as a cause. I feel so grateful to be facing Mount Kilimanjaro with two of my colleagues and a wider team of like-minded people and hope that our fundraising will make a real difference to the charity and the individuals it supports.”

But by doing so and through raising vital funds and awareness, they will make a real and lasting change to the lives of the most vulnerable people we support.”
The fund-raisers have set up a JustGiving page for donations. RWK Goodman will also be marking World Homeless Day on Thursday 10 October, by reflecting on local homeless issues and those affected by them.
