Over £34K raised for local charities

Over the past 18 months our partners and staff have raised over £34k for local charities through various fundraising activities, donating over £11k to Helen & Douglas House, £11k to Wiltshire Air Ambulance and £12k to Children’s Hospice South West.

Partners and staff took part in a wide range of fund-raising activities, including a 180 mile staff cycle ride from Children’s Hospice South West to Helen & Douglas House in Oxford, Santa Fun Runs around Bath and Oxford, Bath Half Marathon and Bristol 10k run, a Retail Apprentice Challenge in Oxford, sale of Christmas hampers, regular cake sales and bake-offs, and dress down days.

Withy King Partner and Chair of the firm’s Charities’ Committee, Chris Kane, said: “We are committed to making a positive impact on the communities we work in and we are delighted with what our staff have managed to achieve.”

Helen & Douglas House
Jennifer Hudson, Corporate Fundraiser from Helen & Douglas House, said: “We are very grateful to the staff at Withy King who raised a fantastic total of £11,489.43 by building support for the charity into their business and leisure activities. This wonderful gift will enable us to provide one-to-one nursing care for 76 days for a child or young adult staying with us for respite, emergency or end-of-life care.”

Helen & Douglas House celebrated its 30th anniversary last year. The charity relies on voluntary donations to cover 85 per cent of its costs.

Caroline Corrigan, Head of Fundraising for Wiltshire Air Ambulance, said: “We are extremely grateful to Withy King for their efforts in raising this fantastic amount for us and to hear that the firm will continue to support us over the next two years. The way in which we are funded is changing and the charity is going to be under even greater pressure in the future. We are more reliant than ever on partnerships with firms like Withy King to keep this vital service going.”
