Employment team welcome partner Kevin James
Kevin trained in Local Government and qualified as a solicitor in 1987. He practised in the public sector until joining Eversheds in 1995, following which, he practised exclusively in the fields of Employment and Health and Safety Law.
Throughout his years of practice, Kevin has acted for employers and senior executives only. He has practised in all areas of employment law including:
- Claims of unfair and wrongful dismissal
- Discrimination
- Redundancy (including major reorganisation/restructuring involving more than 100 employees at risk of redundancy)
- Breach-of-contract claims (including seeking injunctive relief in relation to the operation and application of restrictive covenants
Kevin also advises on all non contentious areas including drafting contracts of employment, policies and employee handbooks.
His health and safety practice has grown from being formerly a prosecutor for health and safety matters and on joining private practice he continued to advise and act for major national and regional employers. He has advised extensively on non contentious aspects of health and safety matters, drafting health and safety policies and the application of health and safety legislation within the workplace.
Kevin also brings with him extensive experience and expertise as an advocate. Having appeared in employment tribunals and courts across the whole of the UK, he has appeared on behalf of major national employers throughout his career and continues to appear as an advocate in both the tribunal and the courts.
To add to this, throughout his career Kevin has presented extensively on training programs and events ranging from the delivery of structured training programs over a period of months to day long half day seminars and workshops.
Kevin holds a diploma in workplace mediation and is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
