Drafting amendments to protect clients & save them money
Our client was a director being made redundant who wanted to get everything done as quickly as possible. After reviewing the settlement agreement we successfully negotiated a number of key changes as follows:
- National Insurance – We amended the compensation wording so that no national insurance was deducted, saving our client over £6,000.
- Confidentiality – The redundancy had arisen in difficult circumstances and our client was concerned his reputation would suffer. We inserted a clause to restrict the company from discussing the contents of the agreement or bad mouthing our client.
- Legal Costs – The company agreed to increase their contribution to legal costs to cover our additional work.
Conscious of our client’s desire to resolve things as quickly as possible, we were able to negotiate the above amendments in only a few days.
