City solicitor appointed to charity’s board of trustees

Royds solicitor Thomas Bjorn has been appointed to the board of trustees at a leading national charity.

Thomas, a member of the law firm’s Corporate and Commercial team specialising in life sciences and technology law, has joined the top team at Fight for Sight, which funds pioneering eye research to prevent sight loss and treat eye disease.

The charity funds research into a number of different eye conditions including glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.

As one of 13 trustees, he will be involved in discussions on the charity’s ongoing strategy and areas of activity.

Thomas said: “It is obviously a great privilege to join the board of Fight for Sight, which does such vital work funding research into sight loss.”

Fight for Sight’s Chief Executive, Michele Acton added: “Thomas will be such an asset to Fight for Sight and we’re delighted that he is joining us in the fight for sight. I’m looking forward to working with him, along with the other members of the board.”

Fight for Sight was founded in 1965 and is the UK’s largest charity dedicated to eye research. Based in London, its royal patron is HRH The Duke of York.
