Royds Withy King is a national law firm focused on putting the client at the heart of everything we do. With that in mind it is very important that are clients feel that their matters are being dealt with by employees they can trust. As a result, if you are offered a position with us, we will carry out pre-employment checks.

What checks do we do?

If offered any role at Royds Withy King you will as a minimum be asked undertake the following pre-employment checks:

References

Provide professional references to cover your most recent three years of employment.

If you have any gaps in your employment that amount to a period of more than three months we will ask you to provide additional references to cover these gaps.

ID and proof of address checks

Provide proof of ID and your right to live and work in the UK. We will also ask at second interview stage for you to provide proof of your current address.

Role Specific Checks

For some positions there may be additional pre-employment checks required. These will be indicated on the job description for the role if required.

Academic Record Checks

For certain roles where qualifications are a prerequisite we may wish to carry out academic record checks. This will be communicated with you prior to a second stage interview.

DBS (Criminal Background Checks)

We may be required to carry out DBS (Criminal Background) checks on prospective employees depending on the nature of their work. If you are applying for a role in the following areas you should expect to undergo a standard DBS check:

  • Family
  • Private Client
  • Clinical Negligence
  • Personal Injury
  • Residential Property

We may carry out DBS checks for other areas in the business  however this will be communicated on our job descriptions and adverts.

Credit Checks

If you are applying for a position that has regular contact with monetary transactions we may carry out a credit check.
