Keep Calm and Carry On

It seems that the war time exhortation to the nation to remain calm has, 70 years later, caused panic!   Shops and internet sites are awash with posters and gift items bearing the British Government iconic poster (or similar), however a dispute rages over who has legal ownership.

The use of celebrities to endorse products is widespread across the globe. Images of famous people using or consuming a company’s products is thought to stimulate consumer sales. Research from America shows that people who follow a celebrity also follow brands associated with that celebrity. Think of a brand and invariably a celebrity comes to mind; Nike – Tiger Woods, Walkers Crisps – Gary Linekar, Swift Insurance – Iggy Pop and so on.

The IJL kicked off at Earls Court yesterday showcasing some of the best in British jewellery design. IJL is the biggest tradeshow in the UK and is very important for suppliers and retailers wishing to meet and do business. I attended yesterday and lawyers from Royds IP unit will be at the show everyday through to Wednesday.
