It has been long since known that exposure to both asbestos and cigarette smoke can cause lung cancer, both together and separately. It has been widely publicised since the 1970s that there is a link between smoking and severe lung damage, with ever increasing public health advice to give up smoking.
We have recently concluded a claim for John, a resident of Malta, who moved there in 1990 with his wife, Antonia, who is a Maltese national.
Rachel James recently concluded a claim for Trevor who was sadly diagnosed with mesothelioma. Trevor spent the majority of his working life working for LF Europe Limited who were previously known as Peter Black Footwear & Accessories Limited. He worked for them as a painter and decorator from the late 1970s and had been exposed to asbestos during the course of his work when he had to brush down walls and metal girders sprayed with asbestos, to prepare them for painting.
Rachel James recently acted for Mrs L, the daughter of Mr A who had passed away from asbestosis, having worked as a factory maintenance worker for A Pank and Sons Ltd and Carley’s chocolate factory in Norwich.
Rachel James, a specialist asbestos disease lawyer within the RWK ID team took instructions from David, who had worked for Mumford Bailey & Preston as a fitters mate. David had recently contracted Mesothelioma, and was becoming extremely poorly.
Rachel was instructed by William and his family following his diagnosis with lung cancer. William, who liked to be known as Bill, had always been quite a light smoker and had given up smoking in the early 1980s, prior to the Falklands War.
