Lawyers and staff from the Oxford office of UK Top 100 law firm Royds Withy King have raised over £17,500 for their charity of choice, Yellow Submarine, which helps people with learning disabilities and autism.

Representatives from Royds Withy King’s dedicated charities’ group and Yellow Submarine met up at the charity’s volunteer-led café in Oxford recently to celebrate the end of two years of support from the firm. Fund-raising activities included monthly dress down days, an auction of promises, raffles and a sponsored cycle ride to Paris.

Lucy Crawford, charities co-ordinator at Royds Withy King, said: “It has been a pleasure working with Yellow Submarine over the past two years. From building flat pack furniture (followed by eating a lot of pizza!) and painting their new café to accompanying their members on a trip to see the Christmas Aladdin Pantomime, we have thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people and hearing about the amazing stories of the young people supported by the charity. Yellow Submarine provides invaluable support to young people and their families across Oxfordshire and we are looking forward to hearing how they get on in the years to come.”

Every two years, staff from Royds Withy King vote for local charities to benefit from their fundraising activities, volunteering and practical support. In 2015-17, the firm raised a total of £67,705.53 for three charities, including Yellow Submarine.

Kate Sankey, co-director at Yellow Submarine, said: “As a small, local charity we were thrilled to be chosen as one of Royds Withy King’s charity partners back in 2015; their support over the past two years has been wonderful, from their numerous fundraising events and challenges, volunteering at our activities and helping us to organise events, to joining us to help decorate our café and office – their commitment has been fantastic! A highlight for a couple of our members will always be when they were given the chance to be judges at the Royds Withy King Bake Off. The amount raised by the team is just amazing and will enable us to support more young people with learning disabilities to live their lives to the full!”

The charity chosen by lawyers and staff at Royds Withy King’s Oxford office for the next two years, 2017-2019, is SeeSaw which provides grief support to bereaved children and young people in Oxfordshire.
